Problems Checking Out
|
If you are not able to connect to our secure server during checkout,
here are some of the possible causes and ways to correct them.
These examples are in Internet Explorer 6 but the same settings
should apply to other versions of Internet Explorer. Do not make any
changes you are not comfortable with. You may want help from a computer
professional. If any of these fix you problem or you figure out some other
way, please send a note to sales@badplanet.com
so that we can correct our
information if necessary.
Easy things to check
1) We use 128-bit secure server certificates, the stongest encryption availabe.
Make sure your browser has the right level of encryption availabe. Click on
Help, About Internet Explorer and you should see something like the following.
If your browser does not say "Cipher Strength: 128-bit" you will not be able
to checkout on our Secure Server. You should contact a computer professional
if this does not display 128-bit because you may need to reinstal or upgrade
your browser.
2) Make sure the date/time on your computer is at least close to correct. Secure
servers use the date and time when verifying the connections between the computers.
If your date is off by more than a few minutes you may not be able to obtain
a secure connection.
3) In Internet Explorer select Tools, Internet Options.
4) On Windows XP try clearing SSL. To do this go to the Content Tab then
click Clear SSL State. You may not have this option on other versions of Windows.
5) Make sure that your browser is setup to connect to secure
SSL sites. Select the Advanced Tab, scroll all the way down and make sure
that the following are checked.
Use SSL 2.0
Use SSL 3.0
Use TLS 1.0
If they are not, check them all then click OK. You should now be able to checkout.
If they are checked or you have already tried this and were unable to checkout then
proceed to the next step.
More difficult things to check
6) You should only need to do this if you are on a Broadband connection (Cable/DSL).
Make sure that your browser is not going through a proxy server. Select the Connections
Tab, then click on LAN Settings.
7) You should only need to do this if you are on a Broadband connection (Cable/DSL).
If Use a proxy server server for you LAN is checked, try unchecking this and click OK.
You may now be able to checkout. If not come back to this same place and re-check
the box you just unchecked. Then click on Advanced (not pictured) and make sure the
same Proxy address to use for HTTP: is also set for Secure:. For Secure: the port
is normally 443 but may be different for your location.
8) Try setting up our server(s) as trusted sites. To do this click on the Security
Tab. Next click on the trusted sites icon and click sites...
9) Try adding our Web site into your trusted sites zone. We currently have two secure
servers so you may want to add both but SecureBadPlanet.com is the most important.
SecureBadPlanet.com
commerce22.datapipe.com
Other things to check
10) If you are still not able to connect then the problem is beyond what we can help with.
Here are some possible options:
* Shutdown any special firewall software temporarily.
* You should verify that you do not have a virus. Run a virus checking program such as Norton or
McAfee Anti-Virus on your computer system.
* You should run an Anti-Spyware program on your computer such as Spybot - Search and Destroy
or Ad-aware
* Try deleting cookies and deleting files under the Internet Options, General Tab in
Internet Explorer.
* Try placing your order using a different web browser such as Mozilla Firefox.
* Try placing your order on another computer.
